Notice To OpenAI In America
The US Congress discussed AI only last month and organized an AI Forum in which the heads of the world’s leading IT companies participated. There is consensus among members of the US Congress that AI needs to be regulated. In the US, the Federal Trade Commission is investigating OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, for violating consumer protection laws. FTI has also sought confidential information from OpenAI.
NITI Aayog Also Released Report
The Indian government has also started working towards creating a regulatory framework against Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with America and the European Union. Think tank NITI Aayog has released several papers on accountable AI for all. So, the Telecom Regulatory Authority TRAI has suggested the formation of an independent authority.
China Also Took Strict Action
China has already started taking strict action against AI. In China, service providers must submit security assessments and obtain approval before launching AI products to the general public. Along the lines of America, Japan can also issue regulations against AI by the end of 2023. Japan’s privacy monitoring organization has given instructions not to collect sensitive data without people’s consent.
Earlier, the United Nations Security Council had also formally discussed AI in July. Military and non-military applications of AI were discussed, in which it was said that it could prove dangerous for the peace and security of the world.
Threat To Jobs From AI
He said that governments worldwide are becoming alert about the increasing influence of artificial Intelligence like ChatGPT and Bing Chat. Recently, Gita Gopinath, the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, also expressed concern about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on jobs. She said that due to Artificial Intelligence, a big problem can arise in the labour market. She had appealed to the governments to make rules to regulate this technology as soon as possible. Goldman Sachs said that 30 crore full-time jobs could be at risk due to this.
