Taliban Regime News: In a tragic incident in Afghanistan, around 80 schoolgirls were allegedly poisoned. According to media reports, these incidents occurred over the weekend in Sar-e-Pul province, located in the northern region. Mohammad Rahmani, director of the provincial education department, revealed that female students from classes 1 to 6 were poisoned in Sangcharak district. Notably, the poison attack affected 60 Naswan-e-Kabad Ab School and 17 students of Naswan-e-Faizabad School.
“The two primary schools are close to each other and were targeted one after the other,” Rahmani said. He said, ‘We admitted the students to the hospital, and now they are all fine.’ While the investigation is still underway, preliminary inquiries have revealed that a man allegedly paid third parties to carry out the attacks in a fit of rage. However, according to Fox News, Rahmani did not provide further details on the nature of the poison or the specific injuries suffered by the girls.
Various Restrictions Imposed On Women
Since seizing power in August 2021, the Taliban have tightened their grip on the rights and freedoms of Afghan women and girls. Under Taliban rule, girls are prohibited from receiving education beyond the sixth grade, including access to higher education. Additionally, women face restrictions on employment opportunities and in public places.

Similar incidents had also come to the fore in Afghanistan’s neighbour Iran. In November last year, there were poisoning incidents in most girls’ schools here too. Thousands of girl students fell ill due to toxic fumes in these incidents.
