US-China Relations On The Brink, Antony Blinken Visit Could Be A Turning Point

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reached China’s capital Beijing on Sunday. Relations between China and America have been going through tension since Corona. In such a situation, the US Secretary of State’s visit to China is considered very important.

This is the first visit to China by a US Secretary of State in the last five years. Mike Pompeo visited Beijing in 2018 during the Trump era. Blinken is expected to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and top diplomat Wang Yi.

However, it is not yet clear whether he will be able to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping like Pompeo. However, it is noteworthy that on Friday, Xi Jinping met Microsoft founder Bill Gates, one of the richest people in America.

Antony Blinken was supposed to visit in February, but the visit was postponed after the allegations and counter-allegations after Chinese spy balloons were found in the US. There has been tension in the US-China since Nancy Pelosi visited Taipei last year regarding the Taiwan issue. In such a situation, this tour can be necessary for the relations between America and China.

The main focus of US Secretary of State Blinken’s visit is to improve relations between the two countries. During this, there will be a discussion between the leaders of both countries on bilateral issues to end the tension. During this time, both can try to remove misconceptions and stop wrong speculations.

Before the China tour, Blinken said in a press conference that he would hold talks with Beijing on issues that concern the US. Blinken said that if we do not want the competition between the two countries to turn into a confrontation, then dialogue is necessary for this.

Blinken said he would also raise the issue of imprisoned American citizens in China. America has always been calling these arrests politically motivated. Apart from this, there will also be a discussion on increasing the number of trade and commercial aircraft between the two countries.

Let us tell you that during his tenure, Donald Trump imposed a tax of billions of dollars on the export of goods made in China. Expensive taxes on exports have not been removed since Joe Biden took office.
