A ‘cosmic’ watch has been created by combining fragments of the Moon, Mars and meteorites that have fallen from space. This feat has been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. A video of this mysterious watch made from a meteorite has also been shared online. It is being claimed that not one or two, but 12 pieces of meteorites have been used in this watch; these are the pieces that have fallen on the Earth from the Moon, Mars and space.
The video was posted on Instagram with a caption that read, “A total of 12 meteorites have been inserted into the watch by Les Ateliers Louis Moinet S.A.” The video opens with text flashing on the screen – “These meteorite rocks came from the Moon, Mars, and space.” After this, different meteorites are shown in the video, small pieces of which are inserted into the wristwatch.
There is also a voiceover on the video, which explains that the rocks are “extremely rare and valuable.” As the video progresses, people get to see the cosmic watch and the meteorites inserted inside it. The video ends with a full view of this unique watch.
According to a blog shared by GWR, Switzerland-based watchmaker Les Ateliers Louis Moinet S.A. Achieved the world record on 31 July. The watch is named ‘Cosmopolis’ and has “12 different meteorite patterns carved into its face.”
How Was The Watch Made?
GWR also shared about the processes involved in making the wristwatch. “First, a design had to be considered that would be able to display the form of the 12 different meteorites beautifully. Ultimately, the final design was chosen as an 18-carat, pink-gold case measuring forty millimetres in diameter and mounted on a black wristband.”
The manufacturer further explains, “The meteorites were then carefully cut. Special care was taken to avoid any damage to each meteorite during the cutting process. ” Once this process was complete, each piece was carefully fitted into the watch.
Since the video was posted on social media, the clip has been viewed more than two lakh times. More than 10 thousand likes have also been received. Various types of comments have also come from people on the post.
