Diwali Gets Another School Holiday In The US; This State Just Approved The Bill

Diwali Holiday in America: On the occasion of the first state visit of Indian PM Modi, there was great news for the followers of Hinduism in America (USA). Diwali is celebrated in another American state after Pennsylvania. A bill has been passed to declare a school holiday on the festival. As a result, there will now be Diwali holidays in the schools of America’s largest city, New York.

According to American media reports, the New York State Legislature has declared a holiday for the celebration of students on the occasion of Deepawali, India’s biggest festival. For this, the bill was sent to Governor Kathy Hochul. After this, Diwali was decided to be an official holiday in New York.

So Diwali Will Be The 12th Federally Recognized Holiday.

Thousands of Indians living in New York will benefit the most from having a holiday, including people of Hindu, Sikh, Jain or Buddhist faith. The Times of India they are reported that if the President signs the Diwali Day Act, the festival will become the 12th federally recognized holiday in the US.

Diwali Is Also Celebrated In The Capital, Washington.

The special thing is that the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, supported the bill to have a holiday on Diwali, while earlier, the mayors and school chancellors opposed this law.
