On Saturday (September 27, 2025), US President Donald Trump directed the US Department of Defence to send troops to Portland. This action was taken at the request of US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. In a post on the social media platform TruthSocial, Trump wrote that all necessary troops should be sent to protect the war-torn US state of Portland.
Donald Trump wrote in a post on the TruthSocial platform, “I am directing Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth to provide all necessary troops to protect war-torn Portland and any of our ICE facilities from attacks by Antifa and other domestic terrorists, and I am also authorising him to use full force if necessary.”
What Did Trump Post On Social Media?
This statement by President Donald Trump comes a day after Trump claimed that crazy people in Portland were trying to burn down buildings in the US state.
Trump said, “This is a small example, but it is the most violent example.” This happens every night, and it’s been going on for years. Maybe they’ve spoken out at some point, but what are they doing? But we’re going there, and we’re going to catch many of those doing this in Portland. They’re professionally inciting people and are anarchists. They’re really, really anarchists.’
Meanwhile, in early September, President Trump described living in Portland as “living in hell” and said he planned to send more federal troops there. Trump’s plan comes amid similar threats to impose federal control on Washington, D.C., and the states of Chicago and Baltimore, which he described as part of his broader plan to reduce crime rates.
