Venice Canal Turns Green, Protestors Make Water Go Like Hulk!

Those who visit Italy must have seen the Grand Canal of Venice. This canal is an important part of the water traffic corridor in the city of Venice. Its blue waters allow tourists to tour the whole of Venice by boat. However, a fresh picture of this canal of Venice has come, surprising everyone. In this picture, the water of the Grand Canal of Venice city appears not blue but green.

Protestors Played A Role In Changing The Color Of The Canal

Indeed, Italian environmentalists turned the water of Venice’s Grand Canal green on Saturday to protest against the lack of progress at the COP28 climate summit held in Dubai. The protesters used dye for this. Protesters from the Extinction Rebellion group also displayed a banner hanging from ropes on the Rialto Bridge over the canal. It read: “COP28: While the government negotiates, we hang on by a thread.”

Demonstration By Changing The Color Of Water In Many Cities Of Italy

Small sections of rivers and canals in Italian cities, from Turin’s Po in the north to Rome’s Tiber in the south, were also turned green in similar protests. “After a short period, these waters will return to where they were before,” Extinction Rebellion said. “Meanwhile, while governments talk, we continue to count the losses and victims of floods and fires,” it said in a statement.

Venice Mayor Expressed Displeasure

The protesting group reported that fluorescein dye was used to turn the water green. They claim that this dye is harmless and is already used in many industries to detect objects in water. However, Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro is outraged and orders Italian authorities to arrest them for greening the Grand Canal.
