American billionaire Elon Musk has many companies preparing the world for the future. One of these companies, Neuralink, has been working on a smart computer chip for a long time, which will be implanted in the human brain. After the completion of testing on animals, the company got permission to start its testing on humans. After getting the green signal from US regulators, the company will implant computer chips in human brains.
Neuralink has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). After this clearance, the company will be able to conduct clinical studies on humans for the first time, and the human brain will be connected directly to the computer. The company has said this is an ‘important first step’ for its technology. “We are excited to report that we have received FDA approval and are ready to begin our first human clinical study,” Neuralink wrote on Twitter.
Neuralink will start the trial cautiously.
The company has not yet started clinical trial recruitment, but the process will begin soon. Neuralink’s project is to connect the human brain to the computer, after which inputs can be given directly from the brain without touching the computer’s input devices. Prototypes of the Neuralink chip the size of a coin have been tested in animal brains.
That’s why Elon Musk’s company is applying the chip
Musk says the Neuralink chip will have many uses and benefit physically disabled people. For example, people who are paralyzed and unable to speak or hear can use computers and other electronic devices with the help of a chip. Apart from this, they can also do things like speaking and listening through the chip.
Many animals died during the Neuralink trial.
In the past, a monkey has been seen gaming on a computer screen through a Neuralink chip, the video of which has been shared by the company. Elon Musk’s company has been working on its chip for the last six years, but there have been voices of protest against its test on animals. According to a report, since 2018, around 1,500 animals have died due to Neuralink implants. In such a situation, its safe trial on humans will challenge the company.
