Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 Variant: The Scorpio has been an essential and successful product for Mahindra. Last year, when Mahindra launched the new Scorpio-N, it did not discontinue its existing Scorpio. Still, it made some changes and launched it in a new avatar, Scorpio Classic.
However, the Scorpio Classic was available in only two variants – S and S11. S is the base variant, while S11 is the top variant. There was no other variant available between these two. But, now Mahindra is providing the S5 variant, a variant between these two (S and S11). Mahindra Scorpio, the Classic S5 variant, has also started reaching dealerships.
Mahindra has not yet announced the prices of its S5 variant. But, it will be priced between the base variant S (Rs 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom) and the top-spec variant S11 (Rs 16.81 lakh, ex-showroom). This new S5 variant looks closer to its base S variant as few features have been added. There is nothing much in it compared to the base S variant. Unlike the S trim, it only gets 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, body-coloured plastic body cladding, roof rails, door cladding and side steps with Scorpio branding. That’s all it’s upgraded to.
However, it would have been nice to have body-coloured door handles, infotainment screens, steering-mounted audio controls, fog lamps and electrically adjustable ORVMs. But, all these are not given in the new S5 trim. It gets many features from the base variant(s), like manual AC, rear AC vents, MID in the instrument cluster, LED taillights, side-facing bench seats in the third row etc.
