Reliance Is Preparing To Buy Tata Play

It has been claimed in the report that Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is also considering buying Tata Play Limited. Disney also has a stake in this broadcast service provider. Currently, Tata Play is owned by Tata Sons. Tata Sons has a 50.2 per cent stake in the company. Apart from this, the remaining shares are held by Disney and Singapore investment company Temasek.

Big Media Company Will Be Born Due To Deal

After the deal between Disney and Reliance, a giant media company will be born in India’s entertainment sector. According to the report, Reliance will invest a huge amount of $ 1.5 billion for a 61 per cent stake in this deal.

American giant Disney was worried due to the tough competition from Reliance in the OTT segment. There was a tough fight between the two in 2022 over the rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But in this, Reliance won. Then Reliance also snatched the rights to broadcast HBO shows from Disney. Due to immense pressure, Disney had to broadcast India’s Cricket World Cup free on mobile.
