Jashpur: A herd of 40 elephants has created uproar in four villages of the Pathalgaon forest area of the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. Along with licking the paddy kept in the fields and barns of the farmers, their houses were also damaged, and panic spread among the villagers. Here in Tamta, Kharkatta village, elephants licked hundreds of sacks of paddy after reaching the barn of dozens of farmers.
The forest staff chased the elephants, which were creating havoc in the residential areas of Tamta, into the forest of the nearby Sitapur range. But the elephant team again reached Pathalgaon on Wednesday. By dividing into two groups, these elephants damaged 3 houses in the Tamta area. During this, two people in Kharkatta village barely saved their lives by running away.
Farmer In Panic
Pathalgaon Forest Officer Kripa Sindhu said that these elephants were driven out from the residential areas of Tamta, Kharkatta and Balajhar areas after hard work and were chased into the forest of Sitapur. But the herd of elephants has again returned to Pathalgaon. Due to the arrival of more than 40 elephants, there is an atmosphere of panic among the farmers.
Farmer Forced To Wake Up
The staff of the Forest Department is constantly alerting the farmers. But the villagers have been forced to wake up in the bitter cold. The Pathalgaon forest range farmers say that the elephants eating paddy crops kept in the fields have increased their concern for society’s debt and running their families.
