PM Modi addressed the countrymen from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 77th Independence Day. During the address, he emphasized women’s empowerment. He said that Today women of the country are working ahead in every field.
He said that from banks to Anganwadis, there is no such platform to which women are not contributing. He said, “Today there are bank wali didis, Anganwadi wali didis, medicine givers and now their dream is to have Lakhpati didis in every village. My dream is to make two crore Lakhpati didis in the villages.”
What Is The Purpose Of The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Scheme?
Giving details about the ‘Lakhpati Didi’, the central government is planning skill development training for two crore women under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme to encourage them to start micro-enterprises.
The official said the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme is implemented in some states, and now the government plans to train two crore women under it.
Women Will Get Many Types Of Training
The official also said that the women would be trained in skills like plumbing, making LED bulbs and operating and repairing drones.
Women Of The Country Ahead In STEM
Addressing the Red Fort, PM Modi said, “On a foreign tour, I was asked if women study science-engineering in your country, so I told them that Indian women are ahead in STEM. STEM means Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.”
He further said that G-20 has also accepted India’s vision of women-led development. The Prime Minister also said, “It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that no atrocities are committed against our daughters”.
