During IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals suffered a major blow as star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was injured, ruling him out of the season. Marsh, suffering from a hamstring problem, returned to Australia for treatment mid-season and would not return for the remainder of the tournament.

Before his injury, Mitchell Marsh was in poor form, raising concerns for the Capitals as he struggled to make impressive contributions with scores of 20, 23, 18, and 0. His absence is a blow to Delhi and a matter of concern for the Australian team, especially considering the T20 World Cup 2024.

Mitchell Marsh, who has been in the IPL since 2010, has scored 666 runs in 42 matches at an average of 19.59, including three half-centuries. He has also performed well with the ball, taking 37 wickets in IPL matches. His standout performance came last season when he took 12 wickets, which was his career best.

The absence of Mitchell Marsh leaves a big hole in the Delhi Capitals lineup, depriving them of a swashbuckling player who can contribute with both bat and ball. It also highlights teams’ challenges when key players are ruled out due to injuries midway through the tournament. Now, Delhi Capitals will have to regroup and find a suitable replacement to fill the void left by Marsh’s absence for the remainder of IPL 2024.
