Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli will play in the ODI series against South Africa. This series will be crucial for both Virat and Rohit Sharma. According to reports, the BCCI has called a meeting after December 6 to discuss the futures of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar will also be present, and both veterans may be advised to play domestic cricket. Meanwhile, a major update has emerged regarding Virat.
Kohli Makes His Future Plan
The BCCI wants India’s Rohit and Virat to play in the domestic 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Now, news is emerging that Virat’s chances of participating in this tournament have increased. According to a report in the Times of India, Kohli may play a few matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after the conclusion of the three-match ODI series. The tournament will run from December 24, 2025, to January 18, 2026, and Kohli is planning to participate in Delhi’s matches held in Bengaluru.
According to reports, Virat will return to London after the ODI series ends on December 6, but will return to India immediately afterwards to join the Delhi team. However, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has not yet received any official information regarding this. The ODI series against New Zealand is scheduled to begin on January 11, 2026, so Virat will be unable to participate in the entire Vijay Hazare Trophy. He will only be able to play a few selected matches.
Will there be a return after 16 years?
According to reports, Virat Kohli had already formulated his plans during the Australia tour. He has finalised his schedule for the remaining matches of the year. If Virat returns to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, it will be a special moment for fans. In fact, Virat last played a Vijay Hazare Trophy match 16 years ago, in 2010. Virat has played 13 matches for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy from 2008 to 2010, scoring 819 runs, including 4 centuries.
