Former US President Donald Trump is once again in the news. This time, he has staked a claim for the post of Speaker of the US Parliament. Trump said on Wednesday that he is ready to contest elections for this post. His party has also approached for this.
Republican MP Kevin McCarthy has been removed from the Speaker of the House post. Recently, a funding bill was brought in America to avoid the shutdown. Kevin McCarthy played an important role in passing it by the House of Representatives. Because of this, he had to face resentment from the MPs of his party.
I Will Do Whatever Is Best For The Party
A user named Collin Rugg posted a post on X (formerly Twitter); in the video shared, Donald Trump is seen saying that he is ready for a new role. Trump said, “All I can say is that we will do whatever is best for the country and the Republican Party. A lot of people have asked me about it. My focus is completely on the election. If I can help this process, If I can help them during this time, I will do it.”

There Will Be A Need To Change Party Rules
According to a Fox News report, Texas Representative Troy Nehls has said in a statement that he will nominate Donald Trump for Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Interestingly, the US Constitution allows Trump to replace McCarthy, as it does not stipulate that the Speaker be a sitting member of the House. Still, his party’s rule is that anyone convicted under serious charges Will not be able to lead the House.
In such a situation, if Trump is to be made the Speaker of the House, the party will need to change those rules for Trump because Trump is currently facing four serious charges and 91 different cases.
