Many Russian Radio Stations ‘Hacked’, This Fake Speech Of President Putin Aired

The Kremlin said on Monday that several radio stations in Russia were hacked, and a fake speech was played in the voice of President Vladimir Putin. The speech announced an attack by Kyiv troops and emergency measures in three regions bordering Ukraine. The hacking comes amid intense shelling and several infiltration attempts in southwestern Belgorod.

What Was Said In The Fake Speech?

According to a fake message still being shared on social media, “Ukrainian troops armed by NATO and with the consent and support of Washington have invaded the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions”. A voice similar to Putin’s announced martial law, general mobilization and evacuation of civilians in those three areas.

‘It Was A Hack’

“It was a hack,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by state-run agency RIA Novosti. However, it has been brought under control.

The Hacking Lasted For 40 Minutes

Belgorod region’s administrative centre said the message was a fake, intended to “instil panic among peaceful Belgorod residents”. Doesn’t matter. MIR radio station said the hacking lasted about 40 minutes.
