Italy’s Richest Leader Silvio Berlusconi Dies, Reason Revealed

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has passed away. He was 86 years old. He served as the Prime Minister of Italy for four terms from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006 and 2008 to 2011.

Berlusconi has been facing health problems in recent years. In 2020, he got infected with the coronavirus. Earlier he was also admitted to the hospital in April due to respiratory problems.

Presently he is suffering from some diseases. He had been battling blood cancer for 9 years. He was undergoing treatment for his lungs. Former PM Silvio Berlusconi has been called Italy’s most controversial leader since World War II.

Berlusconi’s name continued to be associated with scandals with sex workers. Before he died, he was accused of paying a witness in a sex case with a minor.

Berlusconi was found guilty in 2013 of having sex with a Moroccan belly dancer. During that time, the belly dancer was 17 years old. However, Berlusconi appealed to the higher court, after which the trial continued.

A few years ago, Berlusconi was accused of giving 50 crore rupees in exchange for sex service from Moroccan sex worker Karima El Mahroug. However, this claim could never be proved.

Berlusconi was also accused of tax fraud in the year 2013. After this, his appointment in government offices was banned. He was also found accused in several embezzlement and cheating cases.

In March last year, Silvio Berlusconi had a ‘symbolic wedding’ to Marta Fascina, a woman 53 years his junior. This marriage was symbolic because both could not get married due to a property dispute.
