Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been fined in Sweden for disobeying police orders after blocking the entrance to parliament twice in March. Stockholm District Court gave this information on Wednesday.
Thunberg and four other campaigners were prosecuted after police forcibly removed them during a protest against the impacts of climate change on 12 and 13 March and what they said was political inaction.
Thunberg Fined 6,000 Swedish Crowns
News agency TT reported that Thunberg was fined 6,000 Swedish crowns ($550). A court official confirmed to Reuters that Thunberg had been found guilty but declined to comment on the penalty amount.
Stockholm police said that although the activists had the right to demonstrate outside the National Assembly, they had to disperse them because they were blocking the entrances.
Last Year Also Thunberg Was Found Guilty Twice
Last year, Thunberg was found guilty twice for disobeying police orders in Sweden and was ordered to pay a fine. She was acquitted of public order offences in Britain in February after a judge ruled that police had no powers to arrest him and others at a protest in London last year.
