Narendra Modi Government Made A Big Plan Regarding Lakshadweep

A major decision of the Modi government has come amid the ongoing dispute with Maldives. It has been decided to build a new airport in Lakshadweep. Lakshadweep Islands are being seen as an alternative tourist place to Maldives.

A plan to develop a new airport in Minicoy Islands has come to light amid the ongoing campaign for it on social media. This airport will be capable of operating military aircraft, including fighter and commercial aircraft. An ANI report quoting government sources said the plan is to create a joint airfield using fighter jets, military transport, and commercial aircraft.

Plans for an airfield were made years ago, but making it available for defence use was also proposed recently. Sources said the plan has moved forward actively since then. From a military perspective, having an airfield on the islands will further enhance India’s strength. It can also be used as a base to keep an eye on the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean region. Recently, a case of a drone attack on a sea ship coming to India came to light.

Amidst drone attacks, pirates are also trying to capture ships. It will also help keep an eye on these incidents. The Indian Coast Guard was the first force under the Ministry of Defense to suggest the development of an airstrip in the Minicoy Islands. As per the current proposal, the Indian Air Force will take the lead in conducting operations from Minicoy. The airport in Minicoy will also boost tourism in the area.

There is only one airstrip in the island area at Agatti, and it is only suitable for certain types of aircraft. The island region has been the centre of discussion and attraction since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit last week. Politicians from the ruling party of Maldives have been trying to criticize Indian plans to promote Lakshadweep as a tourist attraction and have tweeted against India. Moreover, this controversy is also increasing.

Amidst the controversy over the derogatory comments made by Maldivian ministers after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep, Israel has also advocated for promoting island tourism. The Israeli Embassy said it is ready to work on the project to develop Lakshadweep as a tourist destination. Posting some pictures, it was written that for those who have not yet been able to see the ancient and underwater beauty of Lakshadweep, here are some pictures showing the enchanting charm of this island.
