Amidst the fierce war with the terrorist organization Hamas, surprising news has come out from Israel. According to media reports, the Israel Health Ministry has allowed parents whose sons have been martyred in war to receive their sperm. For this, they will not have to go through any legal process. A similar exemption has been given to women who became war widows.

The Israeli Health Ministry has allowed parents to bypass legal procedures to obtain the sperm of their sons (involved in military operations) who died during the ongoing war against Hamas, according to a report by news site NDTV. The ministry has given instructions to obtain sperm before burying him.

Sperm Bank Workers Are Working 24 Hours
According to the Times of Israel, sperm from 33 martyrs was taken during the war since last month. The report states that four of those killed were civilians, while the rest were soldiers. A special team with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and four hospitals with sperm banks are working 24 hours a day.
It is reported that during normal efforts, parents who sought sperm retrieval (PSR) of their deceased son needed to obtain an order from the family court, while widows could do so without any legal process. But the government has now ended this process temporarily.
IDF combat engineers are currently working to expose and destroy Hamas terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, including tunnels. Water and oxygen storage discovered inside the tunnels indicates Hamas’ preparations for prolonged stays underground.

Sperm Are Being Frozen
The ministry said sperm must be collected within 24 hours of death so they can be frozen and used to fertilize an egg. However, experts say that PSR can be performed even several days after death when the sperm is no longer motile.
Dr. Yuval, head of the IVF unit at Kaplan Medical Center, said that we look for and prefer motile sperm, but a sperm that is not motile does not mean it is alive. We know how to run it once it’s established.
