US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that Sweden would soon join NATO. He indicated overcoming Turkey’s opposition to Sweden’s military alliance (NATO) inclusion.

Biden Congratulated Erdogan

Joe Biden congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election. Biden told reporters that Erdogan reiterated his desire to buy F-16 fighter jets from the US. At the same time, Joe Biden urged Turkey to give up its objection to Sweden joining NATO.

Sweden Will Soon Become A NATO Member

Joe Biden said that NATO is stronger despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attempt to break the alliance with his invasion of Ukraine. He noted that Finland and Sweden’s entry would soon strengthen NATO. He said, “It will happen, I promise you.”

On Monday, Joe Biden said he would soon talk to Erdogan again. It is known that the annual summit of NATO is going to be held in Vilnius (Lithuania) in July.

America Is Talking To Turkey

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Turkey to finalize Sweden’s entry into NATO immediately. The US Secretary of State said Sweden has already taken necessary steps to overcome Turkey’s objections to its membership.
