At the beginning of the discussion, Jaishankar was questioned about India’s decision to buy oil from Russia despite having close relations with America and its allies. Jaishankar gave such an answer that Antony Blinken smiled, sitting beside him. Annalena Baerbock also started smiling after hearing Jaishankar’s words.

During the discussion, Jaishankar was told that India has many options. India has cooperation with all countries. You choose the alliance; you also choose the issues. For example, you buy oil from Russia. On the other hand, you also have good relations with America and its allied countries. You are now face to face with each other (foreign ministers of India and America).

Jaishankar Said – I Am So Smart That I Can Have Many Options

Jaishankar said, “First of all, I would like to say that I am very happy to be here. I cannot find better people than these to sit with me on the stage. So, thank you to those who have brought us all together. Your question is whether we Have many options. I would say yes. Is that a problem? Why should there be a problem with the fact that I am smart enough to have many options? It would be best if you praised me. You should not criticize me.”

Despite Western sanctions, S Jaishankar strongly defended India’s decision to buy Russian oil. He said this should not be a matter of concern for others. In today’s interconnected world, expecting countries to maintain one-dimensional relations is unrealistic.

India Buying Oil From Russia Despite Western Sanctions

It is noteworthy that due to starting the war with Ukraine, America and its Western allies have imposed many stringent sanctions on Russia. Restrictions have also been imposed on buying oil from Russia. India has close relations with America and Western countries.

Even after this, India has decided to buy oil from Russia. America and its allies do not like this. Jaishankar said India has repeatedly made its position clear on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This problem should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. The violence should be stopped immediately.
