Russia Asks Pakistan to Return Helicopter Engines Amid Ukraine War

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for the last 624 days. Due to the prolonged conflict, Russia is now in a difficult situation. It has turned to former defence allies to regain its military weapons. In this context, Moscow has primarily focused on India’s neighbouring country, Pakistan, which has been purchasing military equipment from Russia for many years.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Russia has asked Islamabad to return the helicopter engine. These are essential parts of the Mi-35M helicopter, widely used in Ukraine. However, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry has rejected such reports and said that Russia has not approached it with any such request.

The WSJ report makes it clear that Russia is looking for immediate assistance in military efforts amid the Ukraine war. It is facing tough competition from international military alliances. There are also signs of broader impacts on Russia’s defence industry amid the fighting. Therefore, Russia has demanded its helicopter engines from Pakistan.
