The head of the Wagner Group has threatened to overthrow Putin from power. In response to this, Putin talked about crushing the Wagner Group. The Wagner Group fighters, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, have claimed control of two Russian cities. The Wagner group also claimed its soldiers had shot down three Russian helicopters.
Yevgeny Prigozhin Betrayed
In an address to the nation following the Wagner Group’s mutiny, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Wagner had betrayed Russia in difficult times and defied the military. Everyone who takes up arms against the army is a traitor. He further noted that Prigozhin had “betrayed” Russia. This is like an attack on the back of our people. He has backstabbed because of personal interests. He said that Russia is fighting with full force for its future. Our answer will be even harsher.
Anyone Who Takes Up Arms Against The Army Will Be Punished: Putin
During his address, the Russian President said that whoever has taken up arms against the country’s army will be punished. They are pushing us towards defeat and surrender. He said I will do everything to protect the Constitution and the people. He has also ordered the army commanders to kill the rebels.
Putin said that when Russia was fighting the most challenging battle for its future, meanwhile, we were betrayed. Putin further said that the West’s entire military, economic and information machinery had been turned against us.
