In the T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan faced defeat by one run in a thrilling match against Zimbabwe. Since this defeat, Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani team, has been the target of veteran cricketers.

Now two former captains of the Pakistan team, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram have scolded Babar Azam. Both players believe that Babar Azam is adamant about opening, due to which the team cannot experiment.

Waqar Younis said, ‘The most accessible place to bat in T20 is the opening. You haven’t let anyone else play here in the last two years. I have already discussed this before, Misbah-ul-Haq, so why don’t you try something new?

You have experimented with bowling; in batting, we have experimented a lot with the middle order. But the openers remained the same, and they batted 14-15 overs together.

Way Of Scoring Also Runs A Reason For Defeat: Waqar

Waqar Yunus said, ‘Sometimes you give up your position as a captain and leader. For example, you can get Haider Ali to open, who has flopped in the middle order. We have never tried, so we are struggling. We also lost because of the way he scored runs. Becoming No. 1 and 2 is not a big deal; scoring those runs and winning for the team is essential.

Wasim Akram Said This Thing

Waqar’s former teammate Wasim Akram revealed that he faced similar problems with Babar Azam at Karachi Kings. Wasim Akram said, ‘All these things start from the top and at the top is your captain.

If your captain plays for himself, then it is not correct. If your captain scores run and allow other batters to play in their positions, it proves that the team captain is ready to sacrifice himself for you. Babar has to learn these things.

Wasim Akram says, ‘I have lived like this with Babar in Karachi Kings. The team was going through a bad phase. In such a situation, I asked him once or twice to please come to number 3; we will try to do something different.

The opener was present in the team in the form of Martin Guptill. But Babar said he would not play down; you ask Sharjeel to bat at 3. Sharjeel is also a specialist opener. If a captain implements small things, then the team will also benefit.

Babar-Rizwan Not In Touch

Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are the critical links of the Pakistan team’s batting. But both the star players are not in form at the moment. Both the players completely flopped in the match against India and Zimbabwe. If we look at the recent records, in the games where Babar and Rizwan did not bat, the Pakistan team was seen struggling in those matches.
