Indian-origin Sundar Pichai met PM Modi on the fourth and last day of his state visit to the US. He said after the meeting; It was an honour to meet PM Modi during his historic visit to America. We have shared with PM Modi that Google is investing $10 billion in India’s Digitization Fund.
Sundar Pichai said that Google will open its Global Fintech Operations Center in GIFT City, Gujarat. We are announcing this from here. The Prime Minister’s vision for Digital India was ahead of his time. I now see it as a blueprint other countries are trying to follow.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address that Google’s AI Research Center in India will work on more than 100 Indian languages. This will make it easier for children whose mother tongue is not English to read in the future.
In his last visit to the US, PM Modi met several world business leaders, including Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman Anand Mahindra and Boeing CEO David Calhoun.
