Comedy In LIVE Match: Umpires Were Not Giving Out To Steve Smith; This Was The Reason

Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith appeared in excellent form in the ODI series. In the first two matches against England, he scored innings of 80 and 94 runs. However, he could not do much in the third match and was dismissed after scoring 21 runs. Meanwhile, a funny incident occurred on Melbourne grounds, and now its video is going viral on social media.

Oli Stone trapped Steve Smith in the 46th over of Australia’s innings. The ball collided with Smith’s bat and went into the hands of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, but in the meantime, Butler did not consider it necessary to appeal and was seen chilling. The English captain was sure that the umpire would automatically give the batsman out, but this did not happen.

After this, Jos Buttler made a slight gesture to the umpire to take DRS from behind the wicket, but even after this, the umpire did not do anything. Seeing this happening, the English captain appealed loudly, saying ‘howzat’.

Hearing this word, the umpire immediately signalled the batsman to return to the pavilion by raising his finger in the air. Umpires cannot give out to any batter without hearing the appeal. This was the reason why the umpire did not immediately give Smith out.

In the three-match ODI series, hosts Australia are 2-0 ahead of the current world champions, England. Even in the third and last match of the series, Australia strengthened their position by scoring 355 runs based on the century innings of Travis Head and David Warner. England will have to score 356 runs in 48 overs in a rain-interrupted match to win this match.
