She showed courage in wearing a swimsuit in the 60s film ‘An Evening in Paris’. However, let us tell you that not Sharmila Tagore but Nalini Jaywant was the first Hindi cinema actress who started the trend of wearing a swimsuit on screen.

The father of Nalini Jaywant, a famous actress of the 40s and 50s, never wanted her to enter the acting field. However, Nalini not only decided to take up acting, but she also earned a lot of names in this field. Nalini Jaywant created a sensation not only with her acting but also with her bold style.

It is said that Nalini Jaywant, not Sharmila Tagore, was the first actress to wear a swimsuit for a film shoot. She created a lot of sensation 1950 in director Gyan Mukherjee’s film ‘Sangram’.

Not only this, Nalini had a photoshoot done in 1951, for which she had posed wearing a bikini. In Sangram, Ashok Kumar was in the lead role, while Shashi Kapoor played the role of Young Kumar.

Nalini Jaywant, born in Mumbai in 1926, started her career in 1941 with the film ‘Radhika’; the same year, she also worked in Mehboob Khan’s film ‘Behan’.

In his career of 42 years, i.e. from 1941 to 1983, she did about 58 to 60 films. Her last film was ‘Nastik’ with Amitabh Bachchan in 1983. Nalini Jaywant left this world on 22 December at the age of 84.
